A lock on your door. A lock on the front door to your house is something we often take for granted in our country. In northern Mexico, many families live without the peace-of-mind a simple lock can bring. For more than 30 years, the High School Youth Group from Jacksonville Presbyterian Church has traveled to Mexico to build homes and provide safety, security, and hope for families.

In June, a team of high schoolers and adult volunteers will give up a week of their summers to travel down to Mexico to build a house with a locking front door for families in need through Amor Ministries. Our annual yard sale is not only a large financial contributor to this trip, but it is also a way for our church and the community to be involved in changing lives.

The annual yard sale usually coincides with the city-wide sale in September. With the dramatic rise of COVID cases last September, we postponed our sale.

The Mexico Mission Yard Sale is set for Friday, March 11, 8am-6pm and Saturday, March 12, 8am-2pm at our church campus at 425 Middle Street in Jacksonville. As usual, you’re sure to find furniture, clothes, books, electronics, trinkets, toys, tools, sporting goods, and more!

If you have any items you would like to donate, please bring them to 425 Middle Street, Wednesday, March 9, 8am-7pm or Thursday, March 10, 8am-7pm and we will have our team of volunteers waiting for you outside to unload. If you have any larger items such as furniture that are more difficult to transport, please give the church office a call at 541-899-1287 to schedule a pickup, and we will send a team to your house with a truck/trailer.

Whether you volunteer, donate, shop, or pray—thank you, and we hope to see you at the yard sale.
