In case you’re wondering where the 80+ year-old scale from Scheffel’s Toy Store is, we have the answer. Emily Grimes, whose family has lived in Jacksonville for 8 generations, took the scale to Discovery Park/Rogue Jet Boat Adventures in Central Point for safekeeping. At some point, she hopes the scale will return to Jacksonville’s Beekman Bank or hoped-for-museum. Emily recalls many memories of running down barefoot with her sisters from their house behind LaFiesta to get a 12 cent cookie at the bakery, grabbing the mail and then weighing themselves on the corner.
