Chamber Chat – November 2026

AS NOVEMBER settles into Jacksonville and the first strands of white lights begin to glow across our Historic Core, town prepares to step into its most beloved season. Victorian Christmas has always been more than an event here—it is a living tradition, a celebration of heritage, community, and the unmistakable charm that has made Jacksonville one of America’s most enchanting small towns. In 2026, that magic grows and glows even brighter.

A Season Rooted in History—Jacksonville’s Victorian Christmas is built on the foundation of a National Historic Landmark District—one of the best-preserved Gold Rush towns in the American West. Our 1850s–1880s storefronts, gaslit corners, and brick-lined streets create an authentic backdrop that needs little embellishment to feel like a holiday postcard. Each December, town becomes a living museum, where costumed docents, Father Christmas, and historic tours bring the past to life. This year, history takes center stage with the grand-opening of the Jacksonville History Center, located inside the beautifully restored 1881 Old City Hall. The new center anchors the season’s theme: “The Whole Town Is the Museum.” Visitors will explore interactive exhibits, artifacts, and QR-linked stories that illuminate Jacksonville’s founding chapters—from the Gold Rush to the merchants, makers, and families who shaped our town.
