Sipping & Playing in Jacksonville – November 2026

A LITTLE OVER a year ago, I wrote about The Wine Lounge at the Jacksonville Inn. Well, things have changed since then, and I think it’s time for another visit!

The space is now home to The Gold Room, where craft cocktails have taken center stage. They’ve updated the space, added some great touches, and there’s a whole new reason to stop in.

I’ve been a couple of times recently, once with a girlfriend for an early happy hour (we may have been there right when they opened at 3pm!) and again just this past weekend with my husband for a nightcap after dinner at Gogi’s (which I also highly recommend for a special dinner). Both visits reminded me how much I enjoy having a place like this right in the heart of downtown Jacksonville.

They’ve done an amazing job with the space. It’s comfortable, has plenty of places to sit and catch up, and I love being able to look out and watch what’s happening downtown. They also have live music regularly, which I think makes it even better. And when we stopped in last weekend, there were groups dressed up in Roaring ’20s attire! It was such a fun surprise to walk into and made the evening even more entertaining.

Now, let’s talk cocktails! Their craft cocktail menu is extensive, with so many fun options to choose from. You’ll find classics with a twist, like their Gold Fashioned, along with drinks like the Gold Room Martini made with espresso. I’ve tried a few of their cocktails (maybe more than I care to admit!), and I have yet to be disappointed. Their bartenders definitely know what they’re doing, and if you’re having trouble deciding, they’re happy to point you in the right direction. And don’t worry, wine and beer lovers, there are plenty of options for you too!

So far, The Gold Room has been more of a pre- or post-dinner stop for me, but they do have some delicious-looking food options! They serve CABA Empanadas, which look amazing, along with a few other snacks to enjoy with your cocktails. And speaking of snacks, I have to tell you about the truffle Parmesan popcorn. A girlfriend introduced me to it on one of our visits, and trust me on this one, it’s SO good! It’s the perfect thing to snack on while enjoying a drink, and now I must order it every time I’m there!

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, this is such a fun place to bring family or friends visiting for the holiday. Whether it’s getting out for a drink before dinner or meeting up to toast the holidays, it’s a great excuse to show off another Jacksonville spot. They also offer the space for private events, so keep that in mind as you start planning holiday parties and gatherings.

What I like about The Gold Room is that you don’t need a special occasion to go.
Whether you’re meeting friends, enjoying a date night, or entertaining visitors, it’s worth stopping in.

The Gold Room is located at 175 E. California Street in downtown Jacksonville and is open Tuesday through Saturday starting at 3pm. Walk-ins are welcome, and you can make reservations or inquire about private events at thegoldroomjacksonville.com. And don’t forget to follow them on Instagram (@thegoldroomjacksonville), where they share their upcoming live music schedule, specials, and more. It’s a great way to stay in the know about what’s happening!
