A belated Happy New Year from all the members of Art Presence Art Center. 2018 was an amazing year and 2019 looks even better, allowing us to make ART a more dynamic and visible PRESENCE in historic Jacksonville. In the front area of our gallery, we now have the Galleria, where we showcase handmade works of art including jewelry, woodwork, glasswork, pottery, and more, ready to take home upon purchase. We have initiated a guest artist program, expanded community programs with guest lectures and demonstrations, and continued our author readings. We also have space available for community meetings. Please come in and sign up to receive our newsletter so you won’t miss a minute of new and appealing works of art. ~Anne Brooke, Director
Naked Art: No Mats ~ No Frames ~ Great Deals! Our annual exhibition of unmounted, unframed art ends on Sunday, February 24. Don’t miss this opportunity to start or add to your art collection for less. We have a wide selection of artists, styles and medium available for you to choose from. Take your art finds home at the time of purchase, then frame them just the way you want.
Alongside our main show, a guest exhibit of Haiku by members of the Calligrapher’s Guild is displayed on the back wall of the gallery. A second reception for these shows takes place on Saturday, February 9, from noon-2:00pm. This is also the day Jacksonville celebrates Chinese New Year, and we are honored to host Mr. Fu-You Long for a calligraphy talk and demonstration from noon-2:00pm.
Our new six-week basic drawing class for adults begins in March. Learn the fundamentals of this important skill which is so necessary if you desire to paint. Learn a lot, pay as much as you’re able. Please contact Anne Brooke for more information and to sign up.
