Out with the Pew, In with the New

It was a watershed moment today in Jacksonville when city workers removed all but two of the church pews from Old City Hall. For devotees of the old, hard, uncomfortable bench seats, two pews will remain in the back of the room. The old pews may be sold-off in the future but until that critical decision is made, they are resting comfortably in the Historic Courthouse for safe-keeping.

Within an hour of delivery, the new chairs were set-up in neat rows and then comfort-tested by Jacksonville Review Publisher Whitman Parker, Administrator Jeff Alvis, Police Chief David Towe and City Treasurer Stacy McNichols. All had nothing but good things to say!
