UPDATE: Please note change of venue for the Clayfolk show this year – moved to the old Toys r “us” building (soon to be Market of Choice) 1300 Biddle Road, Medford, Oregon. Visit clayfolk.org for the latest show information.

John Dodero, long-time Jacksonville resident and studio potter, will be displaying his work at the 44th-annual Clayfolk Show and Sale at the Medford Armory on November 22-24.

John has been a creative presence in Jacksonville since the mid-seventies as co- owner and operator of the Village Galley and Dodero Apparel and Design Salon. He also served twenty years in the Jacksonville City government on numerous committees, commissions and on the City Council.

Dodero started creating original, handcrafted art pottery in 1970, after his wife, Cathey, enrolled them both into an adult education class in Los Gatos, California. Their teacher, Roberta Traceder, and her refined style and attention to detail, ignited Dodero’s interest in ceramics. John’s ceramics have evolved over the years to speak with a calm elegance. The clean, spare lines of his pieces have a timeless appeal.

Dodero uses a casting method from originals for consistency and custom raku firing for originality. He offers a wide assortment of colors and styles of raku ceramic pottery from which to choose. Raku-fired pottery has proven to be a versatile decorative style, fitting into contemporary and traditional decors.

The works of art Dodero is most noted for are raku pieces that blend a Native American and Asian esthetic. The range of pieces on display at the show will include cachepots or orchid planters, urns and new work developed over the last year. John’s full line and more information can be seen at https://raku-ceramic-pottery.com.

When starting, John sold through wholesale and retail craft shows, but over the last twenty five years John has marketed his work through wholesale outlets across the US as well as nationally and internationally online through his website, and drop-shipping through other online retailers. This makes his participation in the Clayfolk show an unusual opportunity to see his full line and one-of-a-kind original new work in one display.

You have an opportunity to see and purchase Dodero’s ceramics as well as 65 of the top ceramic artists from Oregon and Northern California at the Clayfolk Show and Sale at the Medford Armory on November 22-24. Show hours are Friday, 4:00-9:00pm, Saturday, 10:00am-7:00pm, and Sunday, 10:00am-4:00pm. Come out and join this unique gathering of potters for an enriching and creative experience.
