The Jacksonville-Applegate Rotary Club is part of a global network of 1.2 million people who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change—across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
The Club was formed in 1988, and today we have approximately 30 members. We meet for our regular weekly meetings on Thursday from 7:00-8:00am at the Bella Union Restaurant where we attend to club business and learn from interesting speakers on a variety of topics. We host frequent, fun socials, and gather together to work on service projects.
Some of our projects each year include providing scholarships for local students, sponsoring a service club at South Medford High School, packing food for the weekend for students with food-insecurity, and partnering with other non-profits through service or financial support. The list of prior projects is long but includes supporting local elementary schools in a variety of ways, joining with other Rotary Clubs to build a Habitat for Humanity home, assembling playground equipment in Doc Griffin Park, and providing funds and labor for various projects at the Britt Pavilion.
Our international projects focus on providing clean water, and we’ve supported projects in Tanzania, Guatemala, and Mexico.
Funds for these projects come from our annual Salmon Bake, selling popcorn at Britt performances, and through individual donations.
If you want to make a positive impact locally—and globally—and have fun while doing so, please join us! Contact Jill Tomkins, our membership coordinator at 541-944-9499.
