Jacksonville Review – August 2026

YOU MAY HAVE driven past the orchards a hundred times. Picked up a bottle of local wine on your way home from work. Grabbed a loaf of sourdough at the Saturday market without thinking twice about the hands that made it. For those who live here, the Rogue Valley’s remarkable bounty can become part of the scenery—familiar, ever-present, easy to take for granted.

On September 5, the inaugural Rogue Flavor Showcase is inviting you to look again. Set against the graceful grounds of the historic Bigham Knoll campus in Jacksonville—one of Southern Oregon’s most storied properties and a fitting backdrop for a celebration of this region’s agricultural and culinary heritage—the Showcase runs from 2-7pm, and promises an afternoon unlike anything the valley has seen before. Organized by the Rogue Valley Food System Network, it brings together the full ecosystem of people who make this region delicious: growers, winemakers, brewers, fermenters, bakers, chocolatiers, herbalists, chefs, and artisan food makers, all gathered in one beautiful place on one glorious late-summer afternoon.

The confirmed vendor lineup alone is worth the trip down the road. Rogue Creamery—whose blue cheese has won world championships—will be sampling alongside Troon Vineyards, pouring wines grown from the Applegate Valley’s biodynamic soils. Circadian Cellars and Terrene Wine & Cider represent the valley’s thriving beverage scene. Wylde Kraut, Southern Oregon Sourdough, Falkways Bakery, and Boogie’s Hatchery bring the craft of fermentation and bread to the table. Satori Farms, Naturespirit Herbs, and Della Rose Pasta Co. round out a lineup that spans continents of flavor while staying rooted right here in Southern Oregon.

Two celebrated chefs will take the Culinary Stage throughout the afternoon. Chef Stacey Givens of Side Yard Farm & Kitchen brings her seed-to-plate philosophy from farm to flame. And Carl Krause of Wilder Cooking will work his signature brand of edible improv with the valley’s freshest seasonal ingredients—transforming what the valley grows into something extraordinary, right before your eyes.

Food trucks including Pistola’s, Grip n Grub, and the Farm Bus Bistro, along with Jacksonville’s own Black Barn Kitchen, and the unmistakable energy of a community celebrating itself, round out the day.

For visitors, the Showcase is a discovery. For those who call this valley home, it’s a reminder—that what grows here, what’s made here, and the people behind it all are something genuinely worth savoring. The Rogue Valley’s flavors have always been in your backyard. September 5 is the day to truly taste them.
