My View – June 2024

AS WE STEP into the vibrant month of June, it offers a packed schedule of events and opportunities to get out and enjoy our beloved Jacksonville and its surroundings. With summer in full swing, there’s no shortage of places to explore, celebrate, and make memories with friends!

First and foremost, awaiting us on the Britt Hill is a smashing season of concerts starting June 7 through October 14. Britt CEO Abby McKee and her talented team have curated another outstanding season of pop and orchestral music. Whether you’re a classical music aficionado, a fan of contemporary tunes, or simply someone who appreciates the magic of live performances under the stars, the Britt Festival delivers unforgettable experiences.

For those seeking another sensory journey, the Southern Oregon Lavender Festival is a must-do event with its fields of fragrant blooms in a celebration of all things lavender. Lose yourself in the beauty of these purple-hued landscapes and indulge in lavender-infused products and treats offered by our local farmers.

For the oenophiles among us, the Chamber of Commerce and the Jacksonville Winery Association has teamed up again with their fun and safe wine tasting trolley tours, enabling you to sit back and relax as you explore the scenic vineyards and wineries that dot our landscape. Hop aboard and enjoy the ride around town and environs while savoring the flavors of our award-winning winemakers. The Chamber’s History Trolley Tour is also running, offering history buffs a step back in time with tours of our historic town. Tours are also happening at the Beekman House and bank as well as our Pioneer Cemetery… where you’ll hear stories and gain a deeper appreciation for our rich, local heritage.

And, with perfect temperatures, there’s no better time to dine al fresco and savor the flavors of summer at our charming restaurants…and no better time to pick up that perfect gift at one of our local shops! In addition, early mornings in June is a nice time to connect with nature by exploring the woodland trails…so lace up your hiking shoes, breathe in the fresh air, and immerse yourself in the beauty of our natural landscapes.
