Focus on Hanley Farm – April 2019

Southern Oregon Historical Society presents Hanley Farm’s annual Heritage Plant Sale on April 27 and 28, from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Earlier this year, SOHS volunteers propagated starts from as many as 70 different varieties of plants from the farm—available for you to purchase and bring a bit of history to your own home garden.

You may select from 500+ perennials, including, purple and lavender lilacs descended from plants Martha Hanley planted in the mid-1800’s, peonies, flowering quince, iris and daylilies, hellebores, snow drops, anemones, and more. Pollinator plants beneficial to native bees and butterflies will also be available, as will 400 heritage tomato plants from our volunteer growers.

There will be a children’s activities tent during the two-day sale, tours of the Shakespeare Garden, wagon ride tours, Hanley House tours and other events. In the Hanley Mercantile, you’ll find gift items along with food and beverages for sale.

All proceeds benefit the preservation of and public access to the Southern Oregon Historical Society’s Hanley Farm. Admission is free! Hanley House Tours, noon-3:00pm both days, are $5 for non-SOHS members, and $3 for SOHS members and children 12 and under.
