Britt Education and Engagement is Joining the Global GivingTuesday Movement to raise $5,000 for education programs that benefit children and schools throughout Jackson & Josephine Counties
Medford, Oregon – This GivingTuesday, Britt Education & Engagement will celebrate giving by raising $5,000 for our free music education programs.
GivingTuesday, taking place December 3rd, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Every year, on GivingTuesday, millions of people across the globe mobilize to show up, give back, and change their communities. The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day, and touches every person on the planet.
Join the movement! Consider giving to Britt Education & Engagement this Giving Tuesday, December 3rd, and help us meet our goal of $5,000. Your generous donations will help us better serve kids in our community with in-school residencies, free concerts, and more! Britt Education provides access to arts education for over 3,000 kids in 45 city & rural schools across Jackson & Josephine Counties.
Britt Music & Education partners with Oregon Center for the Arts at SOU, Siskiyou Music Project, Rogue Community College, Oregon Shakespeare Festival Greenshow and others to bring top musicians like Teddy Abrams, members of the Britt Festival Orchestra, The Anderson Brothers, Dmitri Matheny, and Grammy-award winners like Third Coast Percussion and The Bohemian Trio to share their musical knowledge with students across our region.
Britt Education & Engagement commissions new works from amazing artists for our free performances. Help us expand our series and reach more kids with new shows from artists like The Meriwethers, Ballet Folklorico, Synths for Kids, The Carr Family and more.
Your gift will ensure that we can continue to keep all of our programs FREE for another year and reach even more underserved kids.
“Free arts education is particularly important for rural elementary schools that can’t afford to hire art and music teachers. We see more studies every day about the importance of arts education in brain development, language skills, fine motor skills, and social skills. Britt Education is committed to providing local students with these learning opportunities,” said Director of Education & Engagement, Kay Hilton.
Founded in 2012, GivingTuesday has inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in. In just seven years, GivingTuesday has radically changed how we think about generosity and showed just how much power communities everywhere have to create change.
“When GivingTuesday launched in the US in 2012, we believed that technology and social media could be used to make generosity go viral,” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO and co-founder. “We believed in the idea that people fundamentally want to give and to talk about giving; and that the social sector had the capacity to show more innovative leadership, creativity, and collaboration. People and organizations around the world proved us right. As we prepare for December 3, we’re energized and encouraged by the community’s generosity. The levels of creativity, effort and the quality of the new ideas people have contributed and shared are phenomenal.”
