This incredible Heron by world-renowned wood carver and decoy maker, Brad Snodgrass, is on display (and for-sale) now at Carefree Buffalo. Brad grew up in the lake country of Northern Minnesota in a family with a strong hunting and decoy carving tradition. After college, he worked in Alaska as a teacher, coach, and school administrator for almost 40 years and operated a rafting/fishing business, exploring many remote areas of the last frontier.

He also pursued his passion of carving the birds he saw in nature, primarily decoys, used as tools of the trade of hunting. Brad’s work includes raptors, shorebirds, songbirds and whatever stirs his creative imagination. As one of the top realistic wildfowl carvers in the country, he has a large network of collectors throughout the world.

This art form is one of the only original American Art forms, that is sadly becoming a lost art, with less than 200 artists worldwide capable of producing carvings that are truly collectible.

Brad is a featured artist at the prestigious Easton Art Festival, the top wildfowl Art Show in the world and is a regular contributor to Wildfowl Carving Magazine. Brad has developed a close working relationship with Joe Surges, owner of Carefree Buffalo here in Jacksonville, where you can get a close-up look at this amazing art form.
