Hanley Farm’s second annual music festival, the “Bluegrass Promenade,” is just “around the corner! September 8, join us for toe-tapping music performed by Rainy & the Rattlesnakes, Siskiyou Summit and Waking Hazel. Clap your hands and tap your toes to the sounds of banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin and bass – the best very best of bluegrass classic and contemporary sounds.
- Rainy & the Rattlesnakes – Sisters Rainy and Lela Miatke started out singing at bluegrass jams as children, aged 6 and 8 years old. They eventually started a band, with their dad Ray backing them up on guitar, and in 2016 bassist Lucas Brinkerhoff joined the group. These talented young ladies and their band have since released two studio recordings, “The Steps of Solarest” and “Black Mountain Mustang.” Hear Rainy & the Rattlesnakes live at the Bluegrass Promenade!
- Siskiyou Summit – A “mainstay in the Pacific Northwest’s acoustic music scene since 1999,” the group has cultivated its own style. Band members write and arrange their own music; it’s been reported that their “2003 CD, ‘From the Top,’ exemplifies the various musical tastes shared by the group.” Their blend of fiddle, mandolin, Dobro, guitar, banjo and bass is a musical experience you won’t want to miss!
- Waking Hazel – The band’s sound is hard to beat, with each member contributing instrumentally and vocally. It’s said that their performances “can range from fast and furious bluegrass songs to old time fiddle tunes.” Waking Hazel specializes in bluegrass, folk, country, and Americana Roots music – a combination sure to get you clapping your hands and tapping your feet!
In addition to great music, younger visitors will enjoy the Vintage Instruments Petting Zoo, where they can touch and play authentic string fiddles, banjos, and guitars. Great food, beverages, beer and wine, and – topping off the day – an old fashioned hoedown, complete with a caller and fiddles! What more could one ask for?
