“This is a life-changing course. It helped me move from … paralysis to empowerment and to action.” Thus commented a recent graduate of SOCAN’s Master Climate Protector course.
Declining snowpack and summer rainfall, ongoing western drought, increasing wildfire risk. Are these dastardly Hallowe’en tricks from Mother Nature or are we the culprit? If you would like to connect the dots, consider registering for Southern Oregon Climate Action Now’s Master Climate Protector course. The seventh offering of this annual course will start on February 9th 2022 and run weekly for ten three-hour sessions. Since it will be offered via ZOOM, registrants can join from anywhere on the globe but those from the western United States will find it particularly relevant.
Over ten weeks, the course will cover:
– the basic science of global warming including competing explanations,
– interactions with our energy use and construction,
– water use and extreme weather,
– transportation implications,
– the intersection of climate change with agriculture and our terrestrial natural systems (forests, etc.),
– how human health, population growth and consumption play a role,
– what we can do to address the crisis
Although the course has a registration fee, we have scholarships for those unable to cover the basic fee. For more information, visit https://socanmcp.eco or contact Ellie Cosgrove ellie@socan.eco.
