Focus on Hanley Farm – October 2018

It’s October, Hanley Farm’s scariest month with Ghosties and Ghoulies and things that go BUMP in the night. And, I must admit, it’s one of my favorite months at the farm!

The 8th-annual Scarecrow Festival is October 6 & 7. You’re invited to join us, create your own scarecrow, and participate in the activities planned for this family-oriented, fun-filled, 2-day event. You’ll be glad you did when you see how bravely your scarecrow protects your gardens and fields from crows, monsters, and witches! Scarecrow-making kits will be available and include everything you need to make your scarecrow. There will also be hayrides, food, games, Hanley House tours, and a scarecrow contest—fun for the entire family!

October 14, 20 and 21 the Crater Renaissance Academy and the Southern Oregon Historical Society present this year’s haunted field walk and drama, “The Mystery of the Lady in Black.” Academy actors guide you by lantern light through the field, and as you follow your guide, you’ll experience what happens to those who venture into the cornfields and woods to learn the Lady in Black’s deep, dark secret!

We’re pleased to announce that the City of Central Point is now partnering with the Historical Society, and on October 27, will hold its 2018 Pumpkin Festival at the farm. This will be the first of many events, and we look forward to a long-term, mutually-beneficial partnership as we welcome the City of Central Point to the SOHS family!

With all of these haunting possibilities, plan to visit Hanley Farm in October – if you dare!
