Coming on October 5 and 6, 2018, “Meet the Pioneers” returns to the Silent City on the Hill.

This will be our 12th year of offering these very special, guided Living History tours in Jacksonville’s Pioneer Cemetery. The approximately one-hour tours will depart from the D Street parking lot every 15 minutes starting at 3:30pm and finishing up with the final tour at 6:15pm on both dates. Hear the history of Jacksonville and the Rogue Valley as it is shared by costumed players standing graveside. In addition to personal stories, important topics and happenings of the day, the 1800-1900’s era is discussed.

Tickets for this one-and-only annual fundraiser for the Friends of Jacksonville’s Historic Cemetery cost $15 for adults, $5 for children (12 and under) $35 for a family (up to 2 adults and 3 children). They may be reserved and purchased online at www.friendsjvillecemetery.org by filling-out the form on the Reservations and Ticket page. They may also be purchased in person at our ticket booth in front of the Post Office on September 28 and 29, between 10:00am and 1:00pm. You may also call 541-826-9939 or send an email to info@friendsjvillecemetery.org. Tickets will be available at the event but only on a first-come-first-served and space-available basis. As this event normally sells out, we encourage you to purchase your tickets in advance.

Proceeds from this event support our educational programs as well as our ongoing restoration and preservation work in the cemetery.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Silent City on the Hill and this year’s “Meet the Pioneers” program.
