Second Saturday of the month, April through December (except October), each month a new topic or section of the cemetery will be visited and discussed.

Join the Friends of Jacksonville’s Historic Cemetery for their monthly History Saturday Program in the cemetery. On the second Saturday of the month, April through December (no program in October), various topics and sections of the cemetery will be toured and discussed.

Our program on Saturday, August 11 will include the Jewish and Catholic Sections of the cemetery. Special guest Johann Visser will discuss the history of the Jewish Section and Jewish burial customs.

Docents Lynn Ransford and Anne Peugh will take visitors on a tour of the Catholic Section and talk about some of the families buried within this area. Program starts at 10:00 a.m and you can meet your docents in the Jewish Section or at the Sexton’s Tool House, which is located at the top of the road leading to the cemetery. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Parking is available within the cemetery grounds. Programs are free however, donations are verry much appreciated and help with ongoing restoration work and educational programs.
