Dennis Ellingson has researched the area beneath Lost Creek Lake and will share his expertise on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Medford Library, 205 South Central Avenue, and Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Ashland Library, 410 Siskiyou Boulevard, from 12 noon – 1:00 p.m. at both locations.
Not too long ago and not too far away, the villages of McLeod and Laurelhurst existed along the banks of the Upper Rogue, but they were drowned out when the Lost Creek dam and lake were put in. These days, nearly no one knows of these places. Through exhaustive research, interviews of those who remember, photos, maps, and pictures we can now take you on a virtual tour of the lost villages of Lost Creek Lake.
Dennis Ellingson lives in Shady Cove and is the author of numerous books, including The Lost Villages of Lost Creek Lake, God’s Wild Herbs, and The Circuit Rider, a series of family friendly westerns.
The monthly “Windows in Time” lunchtime lectures are offered free to the public on the first and second Wednesday throughout the year from 12 noon – 1:00 p.m. The talks are jointly sponsored by the Southern Oregon Historical Society and Jackson County Library Services. For more information, please contact the Southern Oregon Historical Society at (541) 773-6536 or sohs.org or Jackson County Library Services at 541-774-8679 or jcls.org.
