My View – October 2019

The most rewarding aspect of publishing the Review is meeting and working with extraordinary people who make this community special. On a daily basis, I work with our contributors and civic leaders who pen articles about the events and people that impact us all. As editor, my mission has always been to reflect Jacksonville’s outstanding quality of life on these pages, and it’s something I consider a privilege and honor to do for a living.

Each month, I intentionally write “My View” just before press time… and I’m always amazed and overwhelmed by the amount of “good stuff” happening here in the community. Fortunately, when searching for this good stuff, I never need to look very far.

To celebrate this fact of Jacksonville life, I’m inviting you to participate in our upcoming November “Gratitude Issue.” In this special issue, we’ll be printing Gratitude Notes + photos from YOU, describing what you are most grateful for in Jacksonville. As an example, you might be grateful for a special hiking trail, the fall colors, a helpful neighbor, a beloved building, a favorite checker, shopkeeper or waiter, a special teacher, friend or caretaker…perhaps it’s your dog or cat, your garden… or a favorite tree…it’s about YOU and it’s for all of us to enjoy together.

In order to participate, simply text or email a 60-word-maximum statement + a photo (iPhone photos are okay) no later than October 10. Then look for it in the November print issue…we will print as many as possible! Plus, we’ll share your gratitude statement in November on our Facebook page with the rest of the world. You can simply text me at 541-601-1878 or email me at Whitman@jacksonvillepublishing.com.

Cheers to expressing YOUR gratitude for Our Small Town with Big Atmosphere!
