Tails are wagging as plans for Jacksonville’s first dog park move forward! The confirmed site of the park is nestled on a shady field west of the skate park and just up the hill from the library. Waggin’ Tails will be ADA compliant, providing all residents of Jacksonville with a safe and scenic place to play with their pups. Small dogs will enjoy their own area, and the larger ones will have plenty of room to stretch their legs. Fresh water will be available to cool off the dogs as well as benches for people to rest on.
The mission of Waggin’ Tails, a nonprofit since December 2017, is to create a space to enhance healthy relationships between owners and their dogs. In October 2018, formal non-profit status was granted.
Our community will benefit from having a designated area for our four-legged friends to romp. Exercise, play, and socialization all take place at dog parks. Waggin’ Tails will be a great place to make friends, human and canine alike.
Waggin’ Tails still needs your support to help meet the anticipated grand-opening date of June 2019. Volunteers can assist with fundraising, labor, and with spreading the word. The total cost of the project is around $110,000 and we are seeking financial donations as well as landscaping materials. Please send your much-appreciated monetary gifts to Jacksonville Waggin’ Tails Dog Park, P.O. Box 1883, Jacksonville, OR 97530.
