Belita’s Space – October 2024
In this time filled with elections and the uncertainty that accompanies the season, I am deeply grateful for the stability of life in our historic landmark town. To feel gratitude for and confidence in the leadership of our city government and throughout our community feels like a privilege.
Our mayor and city councilors generously donate their time, energy and talent to their volunteer positions, making significant contributions to our high quality of life and the future we are shaping as a community.
Volunteers are the heart of not only our government, but the horsepower behind our many non-profit organizations. Heralding our history, maintaining our trails and historic cemetery, enriching our arts and culture and cultivating tourism to support our business community are just a few of the accomplishments largely achieved by the dedication of volunteers.
A new, curated event borne of volunteerism is the re-imagination of the Jacksonville Holiday Trolley Lights Tour envisioned by Chamber of Commerce president (and volunteer) Brian Dunn. In cooperation with the city, businesses, organizations and residents, this new tradition will unify our community.
This luminous addition to our traditional Victorian Christmas redirects the trolleys, which formerly visited Medford, back to Jacksonville during this enchanting season. The new Holiday Trolley Lights Tour is an invitation to be delighted as the trolleys wind through the magical glow of our historic streets, passing illuminated landmarks, charming homes, and beloved businesses.
The festive twinkling lights and displays will showcase our town and its neighborhoods, reflecting the collective efforts and spirit of the community that makes Jacksonville shine.
