On Tuesday, November 5th, City Hall was packed with a standing room-only crowd to honor Vi Davis for her decades of community service. Mayor Paul Becker, shown here with Vi, spoke about her decades-long involvement with various local organizations including the Community Center Board and Thrift Shop. To date, Vi Davis and her colleagues have raised more than $140,000 for the development and construction of a community center. During the ceremony, an emotional and sincere Mayor Becker mentioned that the center, when built, will be named the Vi Davis Community Center. Mayor Becker praised Vi for her dedication to the community and called on each citizen to look to her as a model-volunteer. At the conclusion of the mayors remarks, Vi received a standing ovation that lasted several minutes.

I can think of no one more deserving of being honored for contribution to their community. I’ve known Vi since the 60’s, and she has always been involved with community projects. She’s a very dedicated, talented woman and certainly has given much time to bettering lives for others.
