Come to Forty-Five Coffee on Tuesday, June 19th, 2018, to kick off a very special two-day event with Jordan Bubin, a traveling poet and storyteller.
First, from 12 pm – 2 pm, Bubin will run a poetry workshop, where he reveals his tricks and secrets for writing poems that have landed him on the radio, and on Phoenix’s national slam poetry team.
Then, from 2 pm – 3 pm, he’ll set up his amplifiers, and present an open mic, so you can share those fresh poems, or you can bring an older one to read!
Finally, from 3 pm – 5 pm, he’ll present “Fine White Powders,” the slam poetry and storytelling show that he’s been taking around the western U.S. on a three-month tour. In the show, he blends poetry from his latest, illustrated work with bits of the history of sugar, and other fine white powders. You’ll never look at dessert, or the war on drugs, in the same way again!
Fine White Powders is a mix of performance art, and public education. Plus, Bubin has enough dry erase markers and white boards to turn Forty-Five Coffee into a pop-up classroom, that’s suitable for artists of all ages. Come get your poet on, and catch a free show – then step out into the night for Britt Fest, before coming back to Rebel Heart Books on the 20th to catch a lecture on the full history of fine white powders!
