News from Britt Hill – November 2024

IT’S MY FAVORITE MONTH OF THE YEAR, and a perfect time to take stock of the many fortunes and blessings of 2024. Another Britt season has come and gone, and I’m grateful for the fabulous time we had with all of you on the Hill! Our live summer shows are always such a party, and having one “bonus” show on October 14 was a treat. Thank you for your support all summer!

Every year, folks ask me whether we all disappear for a few months before the season begins anew, and every year it gives me a chuckle. While the Hill is certainly calmer for the next few months, behind the scenes our staff is already hard at work booking next season, launching our annual membership drive, solidifying advertising and Business Partners, writing grants, and so much more. I’m grateful for the time and space to do some of this important background work. We’re also making enormous website improvements this year, and we’re excited to share those upgrades with you in the late winter/early spring.

In orchestra news, I’m delighted to share that we have invited the Guest Conductors who will be leading the Britt Festival Orchestra in June. We received extraordinary applications for the position of Music Director, and it’s been a delight meeting the talented candidates through multiple interviews and conversations. In January, the BFO season will be announced, along with the Guest Conductors for this summer. I feel immense gratitude for the many wonderful candidates who expressed their interest in joining our organization.

None of this work would be possible without your support, and this time of gratitude aligns with the time of year when I ask you to consider Britt as part of your year-end charitable giving plans. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Britt relies heavily on donated support to fund our stewardship of the park, our amazing education programs, the orchestra, and so much more. Around 85% of the tickets sold for our popular music concerts are remitted back to the artists on stage (and they earn every penny of it), meaning that Britt needs a diverse array of philanthropic support to continue our work in this wonderful community. I am grateful for your consideration as you make your end-of-year plans. Memberships and gift certificates also make wonderful holiday gifts, so you might consider those options as other ways to support Britt, too!

Finally, I’m grateful for this community of curious, engaged, creative, supportive people. This is such a special place, and I continue to pinch myself that I get to live here and produce this beautiful summer concert series with all of you each year. Happy start to the holiday season this month and thank you for all you do!

All best, Abby
