FALL COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP OF THE CEMETERY GROUNDS
Many thank yous and much appreciation to the 41 volunteers who showed up on Saturday, October 1, for our annual fall cemetery clean-up day. Members of the Friends of Jacksonville’s Historic Cemetery were joined by the Jacksonville Boosters, Masons and residents of both Jacksonville, and the surrounding communities, for a very successful and fun clean-up. The weather was perfect and everyone hit the ground running! In three hours time volunteers managed to fill181 very large trash bags with madrone leaves. A small portion of which are represented in the accompanying photo by Mary Siedlecki.
We also want to thank our good friends at the Masonic Lodge for hosting the wonderful lunch following the clean-up. It was a perfect and delicious way to relax and socialize with one another.Thank you again for helping to care for our beautiful Pioneer Cemetery. The next scheduled clean-up day is Saturday March 17, 2012, from 9 a.m to 12 noon.

This is a wonderful activity. I’ve done it twice now and would highly recommend it because you get to: 1. familiarize yourself with the cemetery; and 2. benefit from some light exercise; and 3. meet other volunteers; and 4. eat the donuts an lunch provided for volunteers. March 17th we can wear green for St. Pat’s Day.
