Focus on the Farm – June 2021
This summer, SOHS Hanley Farm is a place to gather in the evenings to enjoy new and novel events. The fun begins June 3 with the first “Summer Thursday” picnic, where friends and families can share a meal with their loved ones on the grounds while enjoying the peace and harmony of the farm. During this time, you’ll also enjoy a special Summer Thursday program!
Summer Thursday’s will be held weekly, 4pm-8pm. The farm will be open for picnics, self-guided Hanley and Shakespeare Garden tours, a Farmers Market, as well as Covid-free, “hybrid” Hanley House tours. The outside portion of each tour will be in-person, with a video of the inside tour. There will be a modest $3 to $5 fee for the house tours, but everything else is free.
Summer Thursdays weekly programs include:
- June 3—Rhonda Nowak gives guided tours of the Shakespeare Gardens… there will be a mini Hanley Heritage Plant sale, too!
- June 10—Early 1900’s Fashion Show with models representing Hanley friends and family showing costumes of the age and talking about the farm and Alice Hanley’s history.
- June 17—Hands-on activities at the Family Heritage Fair, from laundry to faux calf roping!
- June 24—The Randall Theater will present readings of a play or skit based on regional history.
