News from Britt Hill – July 2024
THE BRITT SEASON is well underway, and I hope you’ve joined us for an event or two (or more)! Highlights for me already have included our neighborhood kickoff party, The Hill is Where the Heart Is; witnessing two amazing conductors leading the orchestra; and of course, the magical experience of watching Star Wars with a live orchestra soundtrack!
There’s so much music to come. In fact, we’ve barely scratched the surface of our popular music series, with the overwhelming number of shows coming up in July, August, and September! Every season is a little bit different, and I’m especially looking forward to several of these highlights:
Paul Cauthen, July 16—One of my very favorite things about my job is that I get introduced to new artists. Paul Cauthen’s voice is absolutely killer, with a really unique vintage sound. There’s a very distinct Johnny Cash vibe to his music, and he recently performed with Lana Del Ray. I hope you’ll take a chance and discover some new music with me.
Shaggy, July 27—Whether you’ve enjoyed his music for years or became a fan after watching the 2020 documentary on the story of “It Wasn’t Me,” your summer of fun won’t be complete without experiencing this show!
Infamous Stringdusters with Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, August 5—Molly Tuttle took home the GRAMMY for Best Bluegrass Album in 2023 and 2024! The Infamous Stringdusters have also won and been nominated for the same GRAMMY multiple times, so bluegrass fans absolutely won’t want to miss this one.
Classic Albums Live presents Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, August 16—Rumours is one of my all-time favorite albums; it’s one of those records where you feel like you’re listening to a “best of” compilation! This show will feature the album in its entirety, followed by Fleetwood Mac’s other hits. It’s going to be a night of nostalgia, and I hope you’ll be there.
Summers at Britt are about music, of course, but for me, they’re much more about time spent with our community. So, no matter which show you pick, please be sure to find me and say hello out on the hill. It wouldn’t be summer without you, and I can’t wait to experience music under the stars together! See you on the hill!
All best, Abby
