A Few Minutes with the Mayor – June 2023

It’s the beginning of summer and there’s a lot of activity in our little city. School will adjourn for the summer in a few days. Our children will be out and about, as will tourists and local folks, enjoying our beautiful weather. Please be aware that Jacksonville is a walking town, full of people and dogs all the time. This is a great time to think how you might impact someone’s life with your driving habits. Please follow our posted speed limits and help keep everyone safe.

Fire prevention and safety are also at the top of our concerns during the warm weather months. This month I have asked Councilor Andrea Thompson to review what we are doing to ensure your safety. Please see her article here. If you don’t have a copy of the City of Jacksonville’s Emergency Evacuation Checklist and Map, please stop by City Hall to get one. You may also download a copy at https://www.jacksonvilleor.us/documentcenter/view/989.

I’ll see you all at the annual Mayor’s July 4th picnic celebration on the lawn at City Hall. If you have any questions regarding Councilor Thompson’s review on Fire Season, please contact City Hall.
