This recipe, inspired by Kingdom Hearts, will make you a bunch of sea salt ice cream popsicles! All non-perishable items, and popsicle molds, are included in your kit! Create Your Own Magical Yet,” 3+ Yrs, Wednesday, July 26, 10:30-12:00pm—Angela DiTerlizzi’s newest children’s book explores the power of “yet”—that there may be difficult things we can’t do yet, but we can keep trying—in order to help children cope with inevitable difficulties. Teacher and artist Molly Moncrief will read DiTerlizzi’s book and will show the kids how to create their own Magical “Yet” to help foster a growth mindset.

Chair-Based Yoga for Brain and Body Wellness, 18+ Yrs, Tuesday, August 1, 8, 15, 22, 28, 3:00-3:45pm—Chair yoga is a wonderful way to safely move your body and nurture your nervous system. The chair provides a secure foundation for seated moves and a support for standing moves. These slow, mindful chair-based yoga classes include seated movement, optional standing poses, and guided relaxation.

Jacksonville’s Emerald Necklace with Author Larry Smith, 18+ Yrs, Thursday, August 3, 5:30-6:30pm—Join Jacksonville’s own Larry Smith as he discusses his book, Jacksonville’s Emerald Necklace: from Goldmines to Woodland Trails. It’s the inspiring, true story of how a group of dedicated citizens and motivated school students were able to pull together the most successful, small-town, all-volunteer, conservation project in the state of Oregon.

Storytimes at the Jacksonville Library:

Paws to Read: K9 Reading Buddies, Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00pm—Children are invited to share a story with a trained and registered therapy dog. Paws to Read at the Library provides a non-intimidating environment for budding readers to explore reading out loud. The dogs welcome a scratch on the head and the turn of the page from young readers.

Pre-K Storytime, Wednesdays, 10:30-11:00am—Bring your preschoolers (ages 3-5) to enjoy stories, rhymes, songs, and fun at the library. A great opportunity to encourage an interest in books and reading and help young children develop important socialization skills.

Babies and Wobblers Storytime, Fridays, 10:30-11:00am—This is story time for babies, from infants to 36 months, who are not quite ready to sit through Preschool Storytime. This mixes some of the freestyle elements of the Babies in the Library program but adds a little bit more structure.
