“Art does not reproduce what we see, art makes us see.” ~ Paul Klee
Our new member show, “Colors of Autumn,“ opens Friday, September 6 and remains on display until Sunday, September 29. We are delighted to feature the talented Lane Hall, our guest artist for September, in a show of his oil paintings entitled “Remnants” on the gallery’s back wall.
Lane Hall lives in the Rogue Valley and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Oregon University in 1986. He has achieved Diamond Membership in the Watercolor Society of Oregon and has won numerous awards in state, national and international competitions. Most recently, Hall received the Frances Nell Storer Memorial Award for his painting, “Oak Burl,” in the American Watercolor Society’s 148th International Exhibition, the Alden Bryan Memorial Medal for his painting, “Creekside II,” in the American Watercolor Society’s 149th International Exhibition in New York City, and the Kanuga Watermedia Workshops Award for his painting “Creekside,” in the National Watercolor Society’s 95th International Exhibition in San Pedro, CA. He is also a Signature Member of both the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. Lane’s work has been published in North Light Books’ Strokes of Genius II: The Best of Drawing Light and Shadow, Southwest Art and Watercolor Artist. In 2004, he turned his full attention to art and is now represented by Marta Stafford Fine Art in Marble Falls, TX, Wilde Meyer Galleries in Scottsdale and Tucson, AZ, and Second Street Gallery in Bandon, OR. We are confident you will be deeply impressed by the work of this accomplished artist.
Art Presence invites you to a reception for the artists on Saturday, September 7, from 1:00-3:00pm. At the reception, author Peggy Dover will read from her book, “Trips & Tangents: 101 Favorite Southern Oregon Journal Columns,” and you will have the opportunity to meet Lane Hall.
Come to the gallery on Friday, September 13, at 5:00pm for a special presentation by author Christin Lore Weber and musician Rebecca Stuart! In “Stone Tones in Voice and Flute,” Christin reads her original story, “Finding Stone,” accompanied by Rebecca’s haunting flute interpretation of the stone’s journey from the Original Fire through Transforming Waters to Self Realization. Refreshments will be served.
On September 14 from 5:00-7:30pm, make sure to include the gallery in your Second Saturday ArtWalk stroll to enjoy an educational event!
