Art Presence Art Center devotes another special call to artists for the Angels Show. Why, for the ninth year, are we showing such a lively interest in the invisible world? Some of the greatest among the saints and men of God have found a place for Angels. Many of the most difficult questions about their nature, their grace, their intellect, and their love have been addressed masterfully. Their mission has always been to look after each of us here on earth in the pursuit of our salvation. Regardless of our question “why,” we invite you to join our artists as they present their unique perspectives on these winged, haloed beings. ~Anne Brooke, Director

Did you miss our November show? No problem! View the virtual tour on our website, https://art-presence.org. Artworks from the show that are perfect for holiday giving are still available. Also featured is a brief discussion of Frank De Luca’s book, Kindness. It’s a beautiful read and also makes a great gift. To inquire about art that catches your eye or schedule a private gallery viewing, contact Anne Brooke: 541-941-7057 or anne@brookewatercolor.com.

December at Art Presence brings the 9th-Annual Angels Show, the third year we have hosted the exhibition as our year-end guest exhibit. Though angel-like beings have appeared in art for millennia, the earliest artistic interpretation of an angel was found in the catacomb of Priscilla in the 3rd century…with no wings! Winged angels first emerged in 4th century Anatolia, the first of many found in Byzantine art. Humanity’s ancient fascination with these celestial creatures continues to this day, with many artists coming back year after year with artistic interpretations painted by imagination and inspiration. If you’re a person with enough angels in your own home, consider giving one to someone who needs a beautiful guardian in theirs. The show runs Friday, December 3, through Sunday, January 2. The gallery is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12-5 pm.

Holly Days Book Showcase—In our December Arts & Letters Zoom chat on Friday, December 10, at 5pm, Ginna Gordon points out the ten most giftable books on our shelves. Go to art-presence.eventbrite.com to register.

Here’s another way to give the gift of art for the holidays—reserve a Thursday evening with up to 7 friends & family and learn how to paint with watercolors together in Anne Brooke’s “Wine and Watercolor” workshop. All art supplies are provided, just bring your favorite wine and hors d’oeuvres and enjoy painting in festive company. The experience also makes a wonderful Christmas gift. Make your reservation today! $25 per person, vaccination required.

Local Artists—Art Presence has studio spaces available in our Loft. The benefits are many, with reasonable month-to-month rent, convenient location, your own key and water. Contact Anne Brooke to inquire.

Last month we shared a link to a video of 3D canvases painted by Jerry Simon…but the link didn’t work. We regret the error. Go to youtu.be/MIFh4cAuCsQ and this time you will be amazed at what you see!
