April at Art Presence Art Center celebrates the meaning of sense of place through art, word, and the vine. Filled with timeless experiences, memories, and community distinctiveness, a sense of place is what draws people in, enhances emotional attachment, keeps people there, or has them coming back for more. In other words, it evokes a feeling that you want again and again.
The Main Gallery April/May exhibit celebrates Art Presence members with Artists on the Vine. With no guest artist in April, this show will feature member’s artistic interpretations and a curated back wall of works that “entwine and vine well together.” Opening Party is April 1, 1-4pm. Don’t be a fool and miss all the fun! She’s Gone Rogue—Kat’s fabulous sangrias will be poured.
Member Artist of the Month is Kim Sterling. Straight from the heart, his works always invoke meaning and interesting conversations!
April 20, 6-7:30pm is our monthly Talk of the Town. Local author, Frank DeLuca, presents and signs his new book, A Field Guide to Humans: Enriching Relationships through the Enneagram. Join us for a guided tour of the nine personality types and how to interact positively with them.
Silk artist extraordinaire, Joy Light, presents a silk painting class on April 22, 2-3:30pm. $50 pp includes all materials. Registration required—in-gallery or online.
On April 29, 2-4pm, we are delighted to present a reading and book signing by local author Peter Yeager. Yeager’s book, Searching for Sanctuary: The Journey Home, is indeed a journey through a poet’s eyes as he traveled across the US and in Europe, from 1975-2022. His words evoke both haunts and heavens, from the seemingly mundane to spirits of place and time, Yeager’s poetic memoir draws us in to the relevance of the ordinary wrapped within a life’s journey.
We currently have Art Presence artists showing in three local wineries, with another waiting in the wings. A brand new globe-traveling show is on view in the tasting room at Awen Winecraft. Chris Anderson has documented his travels with beautiful photographs and the stories that go with them. His large, photo-wrapped canvases evoke the spirit of each place. You’ll feel like you’re right there in these wondrous spots!
The whimsical paintings of Andre Satie are up for just another month in Dos Mariposas Vineyard and Lavender Farm. Her use of color and subject matter evoke a place of peace and calm.
Hummingbird Estates is showcasing Desmond Serratore. Many of his pieces are local views through his artistic eye. Please, support our local artists and wines. We are on the map as one of the top 5 wine destinations on the planet, and we live here!
Come celebrate with Art Presence!
