November 2018 Exhibition: Holiday Treasures—Our annual holiday shopping show returns! When you head out to buy gifts for the special ones in your life, stop in the gallery first to consider a gift of art. Then come by on your way home to find an inspiring gift for those hard-to-shop-for loved ones. Unlike most shows, you can take your art purchases home with you to wrap and give in time for the holidays. Holiday Treasures opens Friday, November 2 and continues every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, ending on Sunday, December 30. Join us for a festive reception on Saturday, November 3, from 1:00-3:00pm.
November Guest Artist—Our guest artist for November is Shan Lollis. A Rogue Valley resident for the past 35 years and a serious painter for most of her adult life, Lollis works primarily in pen and ink and acrylic. She studied art at Olympic College, and the University of Washington, honing her skills with workshops in Varen, Italy. Shan uses as much pure color as possible, which imparts a striking graphic quality to her paintings. Influenced by travels in Western Europe and Mexico, scenes from other lands feature heavily in her portfolio. She has shown her work in Seattle, Ashland, Medford and Jacksonville galleries.
Pass It On… Our mission going forward at Art Presence Art Center is to address the goal of art education for area children and adults. The Haines and Friends Fund has granted us the monies to move forward in that. We will begin our search for an art educator who will provide these classes, six-week sessions that include the basics of drawing. The classes for children will be provided in the summer months using the same format. Our ultimate goal is to continue this program if it is successful and exhibit students’ work in the Main Gallery at the end of the six month period.
Author Reading—Sharon Mehdi reads from her new publications, “The Great Silent Grandmother Gathering” and ”Eleanor Bobbin,” on November 9th, the second Friday of the month, at 5:00pm. During this time the gallery will be open, with finger foods and beverages available for your enjoyment.
Angel Artists: Second Call for Entries—It’s on! Our call to artists went out in September and we are delighted with the angels the artists have submitted to date. Our second call reiterates our invitation to enter, encouraging all area artists to submit existing angel art or create new pieces for inclusion in this show. Please visit our website to download the entry form or contact Anne Brooke at anne@brookewatercolor.com.
