Here is the dark tree
Denuded now of leaves
But a million stars

December 2018 Exhibitions
Holiday Treasures—Our annual holiday shopping show continues every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December 30! Stop by the gallery on your way out and consider an inspiring gift of art. Come back on your way home to pick up a creative gift for your hard-to-shop-for loved ones. Once everyone else is checked off your list, it’s time to treat yourself to something special from the gallery, too. Take your art gifts home at the time of purchase to wrap and give in time for the holidays. Artists will be replenishing the gallery with more holiday treasures through the show’s end.
The Sixth-Annual Angels Show—Originally the love child of Mary Kell, the Angels show grew in popularity over the five years it was held at the GoodBean. Some even said it had become their favorite thing about Christmas in Jacksonville! Times change and, with Mary’s blessing, so has the venue for this special show. Over 23 artists—some who have participated in the past and many new ones—have been working since September to create their artistic interpretations of angels. Many are free-standing angels, perfect for holiday decor, gifts, or to bless your home year ‘round! The Angels show opens on Friday, November 30, with a festive reception on Saturday, December 1, from 1:00-3:00pm.
“Narratives” at the Medford Library—Phillip Young, a former animator whose name appears in the credits for some of Disney’s most successful animated features, now paints on canvas in his own style. His experience in animation and sequential art led him to think, “…our collective experience will often respond to certain narratives that seem universal. I believe that these stories make a rich and rewarding subtext within a piece of art. My intent is to convey positive moments of visual narrative through these works.” Ten of Phil’s paintings currently hang at the Medford Public Library and remain on display until the end of January. Read his full artist statement and fascinating bio at www.artistphillipyoung.com.
Music and a Story—Take a time out this holiday season! In a performance on Sunday, December 9, at 2:00pm, Minstrel Streams will give a Victorian Christmas concert, including a Christmas story written and read by Christin Lore Weber with accompanying music.

For Chinese New Year, we’re honored to host Mr. Fu-You Long for a calligraphy talk and demonstration on Saturday, February 9, from noon-2:00pm.
