On May 9th and 10th, Crater Renaissance Academy is proud to present the 6th Annual Spring Dance Recital showcasing the hard work and determination of 62 dance students. Through residencies with Dancing People Company (DPC) and UO Repertory Dance Company, CRA students have been exposed to many techniques and choreographic inspirations. CRA’s dance program is one of few high school dance programs in the state of Oregon. Choreography this year is created by students, local DPC dancer Erin Drummond, Rebecca Campbell (a teacher in the school of BIS), and Precision Cheer Academy coach Joey Kaufmann. Dance disciplines showcased will include modern, jazz, hip hop, and street.
“Through an exploratory process of improvisation and careful study of choreographic practice, our dancers are exploring complex themes through the medium of dance,” said company director Matthew Reynolds. “We’re pleased to partner with the UO Repertory Dance Company—not to mention our own hometown heroes, Dancing People Company—to bring fresh, world-premiere modern dance to the people of Southern Oregon!”
Director Matthew Reynolds has created dances in collaboration with the Crater concert Band and the modern movement students, guaranteed to get you up out of your seats and dancing!
Performances start at 7:00 pm in the Crater Performing Arts Center at 655 N. Third Street, Central Point, May 9th and 10th; PAY WHAT YOU CAN.
