Climate catastrophe is approaching faster than many realize; across the planet 2024 must be the year for meaningful climate action.
Join us to find out what’s happening in Oregon’s Legislature. In 2024, the Oregon legislative session lasts just five weeks so the timeline for engagement is short and intense. However, by the end of February it should be reasonably clear which bills are moving, which are not, and where citizen action can make an important difference.
SOCAN encourages both individual and collective action as important ways to address the climate crisis. Collective action includes instigating and promoting or opposing, as appropriate, legislative proposals in Salem.
The SOCAN February monthly public meeting will feature a brief review of what has been happening to proposals of interest in the Capitol. SOCAN’s Federal and State Project team will host this meeting with summaries of the status of specific bills and will provide opportunities to write postcards to critical representatives urging action. We will provide tips on what to write.
Please join us at the Medford Public Library on Tuesday February 27th from 6:00 – 7:30 to learn what our legislators are doing and how you can act. All SOCAN meetings are free and open to the public.
