Come celebrate the fall season at Shooting Star Nursery’s Annual Apple Tasting and Fall Celebration on Saturday, October 19, from 11:00am-3:00pm.

Nursery owner Christie Mackison says, “We started our Apple Tasting event six years ago as a way to thank our customers and celebrate the bounty of harvest season. It’s a great time to enjoy fall colors, good fresh food, and time with friends and family…we expect 400+ people this year!”

The event is for the whole family! Kids can dance, play in the sandbox and check out the kid’s craft table to decorate a bag that they can take their favorite apples home in! You can also take a family photo with the fall color backdrop of the nursery. Plus, enjoy live music with Doug Warner Blues and Justin Gordon and his roots-rock trio.

Fresh-pressed apple cider will be available from Green Ridge Farms in Gold Hill. Auntie Mama’s Cookies will have apple and pecan pies by the slice, which you can turn into pie a la mode by visiting Sweet Cream Ice Cream or choose one of their homemade ice cream sandwiches. The Melt food truck will be offering up hot grilled cheese sandwiches and Hilltop Coffee will have coffee and espresso to enhance your walk around the nursery.

The highlight of the event, of course, is sampling the apples. There will be apple tastings from several local orchards—including some rare heirloom varieties from Ridgeline Farms in the Applegate. Potted apple trees and other fruit trees will be for sale, and you can put in an order for next year’s bare root fruit trees.

You are encouraged to car pool and well-behaved dogs are welcome on a leash.
