Chamber Chat – September 2026

AS SUMMER gives way to the first golden edges of fall, Jacksonville enters a season that feels tailor made for reflection, celebration, and community pride. The past few months have been nothing short of extraordinary, and September promises to carry that momentum forward with events that highlight our history, our flavors, and the spirit that makes this town so special.

We begin by looking back at July’s Jubilee on 3rd Street, a standout success that brought families, neighbors, and visitors together in a joyful tribute to Jacksonville’s Gold Rush heritage. The turnout was tremendous, the weather perfect, and the energy unmistakably “Jacksonville”—warm, welcoming, and deeply rooted in our shared story. The Jubilee reminded us that when we celebrate our past, we strengthen the bonds that carry us into the future.

That sense of connection continued into late August as Jacksonville proudly hosted Cycle Oregon. On August 31st, more than 500 cyclists rolled into town, filling our streets, shops, tasting rooms, and trails with excitement and appreciation. Riders camped at Bigham Knoll, explored our historic district, and enjoyed the hospitality that defines Jacksonville. Local organizations stepped up with volunteer support, businesses welcomed new customers, and the entire community shone. Cycle Oregon’s visit was more than an event—it was an invitation for hundreds of new guests to fall in love with Jacksonville and return.

Now, September brings a trio of signature gatherings that highlight the best of our region.

On September 5th, the inaugural Rogue Flavor Showcase transforms Bigham Knoll into a celebration of the Rogue Valley’s agricultural and culinary heritage. As featured in the Jacksonville Review, this event invites us to “look again” at the bounty we often take for granted. Rogue Creamery, Troon Vineyards, Circadian Cellars, Wylde Kraut, Southern Oregon Sourdough, Folkways Bakery, Satori Farms, Jacksonville’s own Black Barn Kitchen, and many more artisans will offer tastes of what makes our valley remarkable. Culinary demonstrations from Chef Stacey Givens, our own Chef Kristen Lyon, and Chef Carl Krause will bring farm to flame creativity to life. It’s a feast for the senses—and a reminder of how fortunate we are to call this valley home.

Just a few days later, on September 10th, Britt presents its annual Britt Gala: Britt Under the Stars. This year’s Gala supports Britts meaningful work in Southern Oregon and the transformation of the historic US Hotel, a project that strengthens the connection between our downtown and the cultural heartbeat on the hill. The Gala is more than a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of Jacksonville’s heritage, future, and the arts community that enriches our lives year round.

Then, on September 19th, Rotary Wine & Dine returns to Bigham Knoll. This beloved event pairs exceptional food and wine with Rotary’s commitment to service, creating an evening that is both elegant and impactful. It’s one of Jacksonville’s most cherished traditions, and this year promises to be especially memorable.

Amid these celebrations, Jacksonville’s historic narrative continues to evolve. The upcoming opening of the History Center in the 1881 Old City Hall on October 10th will soon provide a year round hub for exploring our National Historic Landmark District. Exhibits highlighting Indigenous history, Oregon’s first Chinatown, early Black communities, women’s contributions, and our Gold Rush origins will deepen our understanding of Jacksonville’s past while expanding cultural tourism beyond the summer season.

As fall settles in, Jacksonville stands at the intersection of history, community, and celebration. September invites us to gather, savor, and continue building the legacy that makes our town extraordinary.
