Sanctuary One, a nonprofit care farm located in Jacksonville, Ore., has received a $52,000 donation from an anonymous donor.
The donation is the largest single contribution in the Sanctuary’s history. The next largest gift was $35,000 bequeathed to the group in May, 2011 by the late Eleanor Robinson of Medford, Ore.
The $52,000 donation will support the Sanctuary’s mission to provide a place of healing for people, animals, and the earth.
“This donation is a game-changer for us,” said executive director Robert Casserly. “A $500 donation is a big deal for a small nonprofit group like us. So you can imagine how thrilled we are to get a $52,000 check in the mail. This donation will put us on much more secure financial footing, and for that we are eternally grateful. We will put 10 percent of the gift in a rainy-day fund, and use the remainder to heal more people, rescue more animals, and expand our organic gardens.”
