Council held a study session on May 3 before its regular meeting to learn more about management practices relevant to the city’s Urban Renewal district program.
- Gary Miller, Executive Director of ACCESS presented his yearly address to Council which included details on the increasing number of Jacksonville families receiving assistance from ACCESS from its energy assistance, food pantry system and medical equipment loan program. Mr. Miller complimented the new Medford Food Project and pointed out that Jacksonville’s involvement is contributing to the overall success of feeding needy families.
- Three Transient Lodging Tax (bed tax) grants for Britt Festivals, the Jacksonville Heritage Society and JOBA – the Jacksonville Oregon Business Association were approved.
- Gary Collins from HARC reported on proposed sign ordinance changes for associations wishing to utilize the Jacksonville “brand” for marketing purposes.
- Mayor Paul Becker read a prepared performance review of interim City Administrator Jeff Alvis wherein Alvis received high marks and praise.
- Council appointed Rob Buerk to the Land & Buildings Committee.
