Expert Tip:
How to Get More from Your Weekend Garden Shopping
If you’re like most home gardeners, you know how short a weekend can seem.
You’re hoping for some fun in the great outdoors. But you end up spending all day Saturday (and most of Sunday) driving from one end of the valley to the other, trying to find the best plants and products at the best possible prices.
Relax: There’s an easier way. This year you can spend less time shopping … and more time enjoying your garden. At the annual Spring Garden Fair, you’ll find everything you need to get growing – and save money, too – all under one roof.
Now in its 33rd year, the Spring Garden Fair is the largest event of its kind between San Francisco and Portland. You’ll discover an astonishing array of healthy plants, quality products and priceless expertise.
You’ll also feel the buzz as hundreds of like-minded garden-lovers, families and friends converge for two days of education, information and celebration.
Here’s what to expect at this year’s Spring Garden Fair:
• Great prices on new hybrids and old favorites – all acclimatized to thrive in Rogue Valley gardens.
• Free plant clinic with expert advice for growing plants and eliminating pests.
• More than 150 garden vendors, growers and exhibitors.
• Helpful demonstrations, including how to make your own perfect compost at home.
• Landscape and garden exhibits by local contractors.
• Free classes on attracting wildlife, growing great tomatoes, controlling weeds, managing pests, and many more. Also includes “Jardinemos en el Valle del Rogue – ¿como empevamos?” in Spanish (Sunday, May 6 at 2:00 pm).
• Discount prices on Rogue Valley Garden Guides – plus a variety of new and used garden books at low prices.
• Free well water testing for nitrates (bring a sample).
• Local food and wine tasting.
Hosted by the Jackson County Master Gardener Association, the Spring Fair is the only place in Southern Oregon where you can experience this many growers, vendors and garden experts – all at one convenient time and place: This weekend at the Jackson County Expo Center.
It’s fun for the whole family. And 100% of Spring Fair proceeds go to support JCMGA educational programs in the Rogue Valley.
Admission is $3.00. Kids under 15 are free. Plenty of free parking, too.
