It is always tough for me to decide what to write about in Britt’s April column. You see, the problem is that I know about all of these great performers that are coming to Britt, but I am sworn to secrecy due to the timing of our April season announcement and the Jacksonville Reviews’ publishing and distribution deadlines.
This year is different because I have some very exciting news to share. For the past several years, EdenVale Winery, Folin, Ledger David, Quady North, and Weisinger Family Vineyards have been providing lovely pours on our hill and will continue to do so. Now, the time has come for Britt’s food choices to match the quality of our outstanding wine selections offered by local vineyards.
As many of you might recall, over the last two years Britt has experimented with our concessions by bringing food trucks and restaurants to the hill. Last year we augmented our commercial concessionaires’ menu with local food vendors at ten different concerts. Your feedback was overwhelmingly positive and made easy our decision to move forward.
Once again, Britt has invested in your Britt Experience. Working with your preferred food trucks and restaurants, we developed a plan. Over the fall and winter months, our new concessions partners helped design a shared commercial kitchen in the old L-shaped concessions building. Dutch Bros also got in on the act and helped fund some of the remodel. We built out the new kitchen with multiple work stations, doubled the size of the upper food court plaza and added extensive new landscaping. You won’t recognize the place but you will recognize the new menu.
Starting this Season, we will offer high-quality food concessions provided by some of your favorite local eateries. Back Porch BBQ Bar and Grill, Frau Kemmling Schoolhaus Brewhaus, Peruvian Point and Fired Up Gourmet will be permanent fixtures on the hill providing our patrons with delicious meal options! These entrepreneurs will be dishing-out some of your favorite eats at every concert this summer. I am getting hungry just writing about it.
There is truly no need to pack a picnic or haul-up wine. For the first time on the hill, you will be able to savor wonderful high-quality food and wine while feeling good about supporting local small business establishments.
Eat, drink, and be merry while enjoying your favorite music and living the 2017 Britt Experience!
