Focus on Hanley Farm – February 2018
This year, Hanley Farm will again host the ever-popular Heritage Plant Sale, second Annual Hanley Farm Music Festival, Haunted Fields/Scarecrow Festival, and Living History Days – and this summer, Hanley Farm will be open every weekend, with a variety of new events, including Hanley House tours. So plan to stop by the farm and bring a picnic!
Also in 2018, the popular monthly free lecture series, “Windows in Time,” celebrates its 10th anniversary! Co-sponsored by the Jackson County Library Services and the Southern Oregon Historical Society, this series has provided a pathway into a world that might well have been forgotten and features well-known writers and historians with lectures that bring alive the people, values and events that have shaped Southern Oregon’s heritage! Lectures are FREE, and held noon-1:00pm, the first Wednesday of each month at the Medford Library, 205 S. Central Avenue; and the second Wednesday at the Ashland Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd.
Join Jeff LaLande, Archaeologist and Historian, for “When Timber was King: The Rise & Decline of Southern Oregon’s Wood Products Industry,”to learn more about the colorful history of the timber industry in Southern Oregon. Wednesday, February 7, noon-1:00pm, at the Medford Library, and again on Wednesday, February 14, noon-1:00pm, at the Ashland Library.
