1927-2022

Mira Bisof Wingfield passed away, in her home, on April 13, 2022, at the age of 95. She had her daughter Leah Wingfield and son-in-law Steve Clements by her side. Blue, her favorite Dalmatian, made sure that the gates of dog heaven were open for her, where she is now serving up steaks and bones to all of the dogs. Mira was fondly known as the “Dog Cookie Lady” of Jacksonville. She kept a special dog cookie house stocked with treats for all of the dogs in Jacksonville, outside of both of her homes. She remembered all of the dogs names, if not the owners, and looked forward to greeting them every day.

Mira was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1927. She came to the USA in 1945 and lived in Phoenix, AZ until she moved to Jacksonville in 2002. She absolutely loved living here and felt that she could not live in a more wonderful place for the last phase of her life. She was a passionate gardener and member of the Jacksonville Garden Club, the Medford Antiques Society and an honorary member of the Jacksonville Boosters.

Mira has 3 very special granddaughters, Gael, Cameron and Morgan. Her daughter-in-law Susan has been her friend for over 50 years. And she had the wonderful experience of knowing and spending time with her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Austin and Ava. She died in good health never suffering from chronic conditions and the satisfaction of a good life in balance. She had a wonderful sense of a complete life and was amazed at her age of 95.

She apologizes to the dogs in Jacksonville who are dragging their owners down the street for cookies and regrets that she has had to close up shop. But she promises to see them in dog heaven!
