Once again, October will usher in Meet the Pioneers in Jacksonville, Oregon. This will be the sixth Annual production of this award-winning event. Since 2006 these tours have been playing to hundreds and hundreds of visitors from all over Oregon, Washington and Northern California. Guests, after being entertained in the ticket and waiting area, begin their special guided one hour tour.

Spirits in period dress greet each tour group and share their tales of travel west to Oregon and talk about their lives in Jacksonville and the Rogue Valley during the mid and late 1800’s. The stories, which are new and different each year, are about actual people and families who lived and worked in the area.

They are as historically accurate as possible with a lot of research and preparation going into each year’s production. Research work usually starts in January in order to find a good mix of stories for that year’s tour. Some stories maybe sad, some funny, but all are interesting and fascinating and you won’t be bored! Come and meet these early “movers and shakers” up close and personal.

The 2008 production was recognized as Oregon’s Best Heritage Event by the Oregon Festivals & Events Association.
