Did you know that 25,000 of our Jackson County neighbors struggle with hunger each year—and 1/3 of them are children.
You can help make their lives better…without leaving home! Join the more than 20% of Jacksonville households who are already part of the Medford Food Project. Since 2011, hundreds of our Jacksonville neighbors have been filling Green Bags with food every two months. On the second Saturday of every even month, they put their bags outside their front doors…and local volunteers (called Neighborhood Coordinators) pick them up. The volunteers leave empty Green Bags for next time and take all the food to a central location, where it’s shared by 15 local food banks.
It couldn’t be simpler…but it really works! Led by Jacksonville’s dedicated District Coordinators, Faye Haynes and Jerrine Rowley, our two dozen Neighborhood Coordinators have already picked up more than 100,000 lbs. of food from neighbors. That’s the equivalent of more than 82,000 meals collected for local food banks…one bag at a time.
If you’re already a part of the Food Project, THANK YOU! You’ve helped create an amazing grassroots effort. If you haven’t joined yet, please become a donor…or even better, a Neighborhood Coordinator. As Faye says, “It’s so easy to ask your friends, neighbors, or family, to fill a bag once every two months.” And Jerrine adds, “It’s a joyous community experience. You’ll love doing it!” So please get in touch and let us show you how easy—and fulfilling—it is!
Please contact Faye Haynes at 541-324-1298 or Jerrine Rowley at 415-250-6575 to get involved.
