MEDFORD, OREGON — The 30th Anniversary Medford Cruise week kicks off June 13th, 2015 and runs through June 20th. This year’s event promises to be something special with everyone’s favorite event this year with a little twist. The traditional home of the end of the week events (Hawthorne Park) is under construction so these events are being moved to Fichtner Mainwaring Park on Stewart Avenue.
The first event is June 13th and 14th with the Star Collision Centers – Bash to the Future 3 Drift Event from11:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Jackson County Sports Park in Eagle Point. Drifters from all over the United States will take over the Cart Track and show their skills in a sport made popular by the Fast and the Furious movie franchise. Cost is $75 to drift, $10 for spectator, $20 for Pit Pass that includes Ride-a-longs in the Drift Cars.
Then the Medford Cruise has five Show-n-Shines in four days. These events are free to attend! If you want to show your ride, it’s only $5 that you pay when you arrive. Each night has a featured selection known as a mark. Other people proud of their rides that are not the evening mark can also show at these events and there are no year restrictions for the mark or other vehicles during these shows. All of these shows begin at 5:30 pm and end at 7:30 pm and Show Cars can begin arriving for placement at 4:00 pm. There are awards and Trophy’s given at each one. Here is a list of those shows:
- The Pacific Power Chevy (Mark) and all years, makes and models show, Tuesday June 16th at Lava Lanes 2980 Crater Lake Hwy Medford – this Event also has the Medford Cruise Karaoke Contest from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
- The Carrera Medford Sports Car (Mark) and all years, makes and models show, Wednesday June 17th at Carrera Medford. 1492 Burlcrest Dr. Medford (Hwy 62) this Event has live music by Funktional Fusion.
- The Carrera Medford Hot Rod (Mark) and all years, makes and models show, Wednesday June 17th at Carrera Medford. 1492 Burlcrest Dr. Medford (Hwy 62). This event is running at the same time as the Sports Car event.
- The Scott Valley Bank Ford (Mark) and all years, makes and models show, Thursday June 18th at The Original Roadhouse Grill 2699 W. Main Street Medford.
- The Lithia Superstore MOPAR (Mark) and all years, makes and models show, Friday June 19th at Fichtner Mainwaring Park 334 Holmes Avenue, Medford.
From there the Medford Cruise will fill the valley with Show-n-Shines, concerts, drags, drive in Movie, a poker run and the big downtown cruise. Here is the Friday June 19th Events:
- Southern Oregon Signs 30th Anniversary Poker Run, aka Heritage Tour from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. We start at Punky’s Diner in the Medford Center then head to a parade through the VA Domiciliary in White City to honor our Veterans. Then we’ll enjoy a ride through beautiful highland meadows through Butte Falls and up to Fish Lake. Then we will visit the Pioneer Hall Museum in Lake Creek and Butte Creek Mill in Eagle Point, finally ending at the Original Roadhouse Grill in Medford. Show and Car arrival time: 7:00 am – First hand free with Registration | $5 for extra hands – Anyone in any vehicle are invited to participate.
- Friday Registration and packet pickup for Saturdays Show-n-Shines are at Punky’s Diner in the Medford Center from 7:00 am to 10:00 am and at Fichtner Mainwaring Park from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm.
- The Coquille Indian Tribe Cruze-a-palooza Concert in the Park. This FREE to attend concert is at Fichtner Mainwaring Park and begins at 6:30 pm in conjunction with the Lithia Superstore MOPAR (Mark) and all years, makes and models show. This 3 band concert experience includes the Sound Stage Review, Funktional Fusion and the Rogue Suspects.
- The Lava Lanes Stoplight Drags -’79 & Older Drags start at 5:00 pm and go until all drags are completed. Gates open at 5:00 pm | $35 to drag (check in begins at 3:00) – $10 to watch – Kids 6 and under free – at Champion Raceway in the Jackson County Sports Park.
Saturday June 20th events include:
- Registration and Packet Pick up 7-10am Fichtner Mainwaring Park Medford
- The Ed’s Tire Factory 79 & Older Show-n-Shine. At Fichtner Mainwaring Park, from 10am to 4:00 pm. $50 to Show (includes registration in the downtown cruise) and FREE to attend. Over 400 classics and live music that you do not want to miss.
- The Carrera Medford 80 & newer Show-n-Shine. At Fichtner Mainwaring Park from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. $30 to Show and FREE to attend. This is where everyone gets to show. Motorcycles, semi-trucks, cars, boats, trucks, SUV’s and even bicycles. If you love your ride this is where you want to show your stuff. Trophies will be awarded.
- The Rogue Credit Union Downtown Cruise. This is the foundation event that started 30 years ago. The 79 and older show cars will circle downtown Medford to the thrill of kids and kids at heart. This Event is from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm and is FREE to attend. $50 to Cruise your classic. For those just wanting to Cruise they can come to Heritage Motors at 419 N. Central Ave. and then place your pass in your windshield and go back in time for a few hours of amazing fun.
- The Rogue Credit Union/Medford Parks & Rec Movie in the Park – Showing the Classic “American Graffiti” – FREE to attend and you can sit on the lawn or enjoy the show from your car in classic Drive-In style.
