On June 23, Mayor Paul Becker issued a “proclamation,” effectively permitting downtown business owners temporary permission to use sandwich board signs at their place of business. The mayor’s statement noted that the action was “made urgent by events which occurred Friday, June 20, involving a City Council member, the Planning Department, and the Police Department…” The Review is currently investigating the situation and will update this post once more details are known.
