Voter Registration Deadline Approaching – Primary Election

The voter registration deadline for the May 15, 2018, Primary Election is April 24, 2018, for people registering to vote in Oregon for the first time or for those that want to change party affiliation.

If you are currently registered to vote in the state of Oregon, but have moved, changed your mailing address or name you will need to update your registration. Ballots cannot be forwarded!

Voter registration and updates can be completed online at www.oregonvotes.gov. You can also update your voter registration automatically at the department of motor vehicles (DMV) if you initiate updates on your Oregon issued Driver’s License or I.D. Card. Deadline for changing Political Party Affiliation- April 24th 

The deadline for changing party affiliation is April 24, 2018. Postmarks apply for party affiliation updates!

The upcoming May 15, 2018 Primary Election is a closed party primary election for registered Democrats and Republicans. This simply means that Democrats will be voting for Democrats and nonpartisan offices and measures and Republicans will be voting for Republicans and nonpartisan offices and measures. The Independent Party has chosen to open their primary election to non-affiliated voters who request the Independent Party ballot. Non-affiliated voters who do not request the Independent Party ballot and all other party voters will only be voting on nonpartisan offices and measures. If you are a non-affiliated voter and would like to request the Independent Party ballot please go online to http://sos.oregon.gov/voting/Pages/current-election.aspx and complete the form. Send via email, mail, fax, or in person to your county elections office as soon as possible, but not later than 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2018.
